medical insurance for international travel

I am at a loss,I travel to germany quiet frequently..due to Bypass- surgery 2006..I have been trying to get Insurance while outside the united Staates, have Blue cross-blue shield and medicare, after checking in with them,i was told that the international travel policy is only covered to $5000.00.I checked with several Ins co,everyone told me they would, but if I go to just the regular 6 month check-up ,that it would void the coverage....Does anyone know of a Ins co.who has coverage for me.My Dr says I am in excellent shape....There should be someone who has Insurance for people like us??I have another question..Anyone know anything about the EHIC ins.cards, where to apply ,I was told ,that they take preexcisting cases .Thanks a bunch barb

Try looking at www.bupa.com under 'products and services' they have a category travel insurance. They are a very reputable worldwide insurance company and may be able to help you.

Hi again,
I just found out that the EHIC card (European Health Insurance Card) is available for UK residents and you can apply at
www.dh.gov.uk/travellers

Are you looking only at health insurance companies or have you looked at providers of travel insurance with medical coverage? Some policies are per-trip, others are annual.
Insuremytrip.com is a good place to compare offerings of a dozen or so insurance companies.
