Me Too, 2Sweets

Sunday and today...

Just cancelled trips to Scottsdale & Naples; booked Hawaii. Sorry I couldn't post a response to your T&P post, but it has been frozen. Similar reasons and total involvement for myself as listed throughout the entire original post.

Happy Trails.....

Hi Paul,
I, too, tried to post a response but it got frozen pretty quickly...I think I'll leave it at that!!
Like you, I'll continue to travel and spend money in places I choose-I think we'll head to NYC for Xmas. I lived in the city for a year while doing an internship-haven't been there in the winter since (we usually go in the Spring) but I have fond memories of my one NYC Xmas!!
When are you going to Hawaii? Have you been before? It's great anytime...We've been 5 times since 2001-usually in the summer as my husband teaches school. We did make a quick winter trip last year to see the whales and get certified for scuba diving-it was an awesome trip.
Hope you have a safe and wonderful vacation in Hawaii!!

So basically you are left with the Northeast, Upper Central (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan), the west coast, and Hawaii.

Happy travels!

Coming from the very wonderful Oakland County in Michigan, Hawaii will be a wonderful place to visit during Easter break. Like your husband, I too teach school. I will be taking advantage of the long break.

We will leave Thursday night and stay in Portland (have dinner there and check out the city), Good Friday at noon we land in Honolulu where we will spend our time until Easter Sunday evening. We will then stay on Maui from Sunday-Sunday and return home just in time to head back to work Monday morning.

It's my first visit to Hawaii and I'm excited! It was a spur of the moment thing this past Sunday to change all of my winter itineraries. Worked out great! I was just surprised to read your post yesterday (and others) as I had such similar plans.

Funny you should bring up Vegas - heading there next weekend! Actually to the very "neutral" Laughlin, NV. Staying at the Riverside where the slots pay off and the jet ski boats roar! Loving all sorts of water sports, I am ready for some warm air days and a cold Colorado River and Lake.

Have a great time in Laughlin! BIL had a job there this summer and the family spent much of the time water skiing. Sounds as though you've been there before

Also have a great time in Hawaii

Paul - Looks Laughlin won't be as warm as usual this time of year - in the 60's instead of the 70's with a chance of showers. Oh well it's still warmer than Michigan. And the nice thing about Laughlin is if it's too cold for the river there is always the casinos!
Have a great time.

Now that's a new approach: check the election results before vacation planning. Do you account for presidential ballots only or for propositions as well? What about the senators?

Of course Faina. Aren't you in the game? Punish the residents of the tourist towns, who depend on tourist dollars for a living, whos neighbor may or may not have voted the way someone from another part of the country wants them to vote.

Remind me not to buy a car made in Detroit, California wine, Boston Clam Chowder, NYC deli bialys, Maine Lobster, fruit and veggies from the west coast, see any movies or television that have any shooting, editing, or producing to come out of Southern California, frequent restaurants that purchase produce, seafood, or anything from a blue state.....

Hell, I'm never speaking to anyone I know ever again that has ever stepped foot in any of the blue states.

The citizens of those states right to vote is subject to my opinions and if it differs from my vote, I'm going to punish them.

Hmm..not a great hardship ..most blue states are my favorite parts of the country. In fact now that I think about it I live in a red state but don't think have ever visited any other !!!

Am I in the game? I am game, ha ha!

I can easily join the boycott of California wines but only because I don't like them except moscato. No, I should type it in capitals: MOSCATO. And visiting New England I did not even try clam chowder! "Boycotting" shell fish.

But... should I even bother to continue if GoTravel wouldn't even talk to me as a resident of a blue state? Or may I say rainbow city San Francisco?

If Paul and 2sweets are gonna play that way, I think I'll just boycott blue altogether. How does one change the font color on fodors forums?
