Maui weather
We are heading to Maui - first timers - next week, and in looking ahead on the weather forecast sites, I see that the first three days of our stay will be "windy with showers" - the little icon shows a grey cloud with raindrops.
Guess I am hoping to be reassured that it will not be a total wash for those days. From what I've heard, the sun usually makes an appearance on most days - anyone have two cents to contribute? Ideas for showery windy days? We're staying near Kihei.

Life's too short to worry about the weather and drink bad wine. Wind= tradewinds, which are part of the daily makeup. Mornings are calmer and better for snorkling and afternoons bring in the trade winds. Rain = passing showers that also happen somewhere on the islands every day. Of course, you could have a total wash out. It happens, but this doesn't look like one. Safe journey!

"Windy with showers" is virtually the norm. It rains almost literally everyday on the north part of the island. The showers are usually very light and don't last long. They probably aren't a big deal. Besides you be so busy watching the canned tourist shows, eating crappy overpriced food and drinking the watered down drinks to notice. Pack light. You won't need your brain.

I would spend more time reading the forecast before getting hysterical about the weather. http://www.weather.com/weather/tenda...b+HI+1029146:5
The forecast shows any were from a 10% to a 40% chance of rain which means a low chance. Something like a 90 chance would mean a high chance. UV ratings of 11 extreme don't suggest much in the way of clouds.
