We just got back from Maui. We did not like Sarento's -- didn't like the 3 waiters per table bit, and thought the food was just mediocre.
Our favorite (we went twice!) was Sea Watch -- not only for the food, but the view. It's a high-up, panoramic view, rather than a right-on-the-beach view.
We didn't make it to Mama's or the Waterfront (not in those areas at the right time) but heard they're great.
Meals in Hawaii are expensive, w dinner entrees about $26.

I would vote for Waterfront. Try their steamed clams, the best I have ever had. We had a 2-1 special, the whole meal was about $50.
Also, for lunch, try the restaurant at Plantation Golf Course. Sit by the window, overlooking the golf course, very quiet and peaceful. The price is very reasonable, about $10-15/person for lunch.
Budget about $100-150 per day depend on the type of restaurants you go to.
