Maui Hotels for October Honeymoon

I am going to Maui for my honeymoon in October. My fiance & I cannot decide between the Hyatt, the Marriott or the Westin. I heard there will be construction at the Marriott in October. It seems the Westin gives the most in their package, but I've read the Hyatt is nicer.

I have stayed at the Hyatt twice in the past and in Nov I stayed at the Marriott. I would stay at the Hyatt for a honeymoon and reserve a stay at the Marriott for when you have kids. It's a great place for families but my DH and I agreed it would not be good for honeymooners. Since it's a timeshare the level of occupancy is nearly always higher than surrounding resorts. We found that to be true in Nov, well before the Thanksgiving holiday. The other resorts, as well as Lahaina, were nearly deserted while the Marriott was VERY busy.

The Westin is nice and nicely located along Kaanapali. Oct should be a low time for them. They are building a timeshare but it's north of Kaanapali. The salesmen however are out along the beach walk.

The Hyatt just finished building a kiddie pool. Fortunately the kiddie pool is on the north side of the waterfall and essentially cut off from the pool on the south side near the poolside restaurant. Grounds are lovely as is the lobby. We've stayed in the Lahaina tower and had views not only of the ocean but of the swan court area and pool.

Good luck.

Patty: Congrats on your upcoming wedding. My husband and spent our honeymoon at the Westin in October 5 years ago and stayed there again 2 years ago. We love the Westin because of the pool areas. They are the only ones that are multi-level, with lots of landscaping, swim-through caves, hot tub, adult-only pool. However, we are heading back there next week and will be at the Sheraton due to the Westin increase in prices. One thing we did like about the Westin is that we booked our honeymoon and last vacation through Pleasant Hawaiian vacations and they have an office right in the lobby. Made a few things easier. Be sure to visit each hotel's web site to compare amenities and prices. Also be sure to book your vacation as a honeymoon package - you'll get some extra perks and price breaks. Have fun!

Iowagirl - we are going to Maui in March, also staying at the Sheraton. I would love an update when you get back. There have been such mixed reviews, it makes me a little nervous. Hope you have a wonderful time.

My wife and I stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui for our Honeymoon last May. I cannot speak for the other hotels since we haven't stayed in any of them. But the Kea Lani is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever seen. It is in the Wailea area which in my opinion is better for Honeymooners. After the big greeting when we pulled up to the hotel, we walked to the front desk to check-in and were offered cool towels and a tropical fruit drink. Let me just say that it was right on time, especially after the long plane ride. The beach was fantastic with spectacular views of Molokai and Lanai. It was not crowded, ever. The Kea Lani is all suites and they are very spacious, love the shower by the way. We can't wait to go back and will definitely stay at the Kea Lani again. Where ever you stay, have fun, enjoy the beauties of Hawaii, and have a safe trip.
