Maui hotel advice
I'm going to Maui in early December for a week. We are looking to stay in either the Hyatt, Marriott or Embassy Suites. I know that the Marriott will still be under construction, they are offering reduced rates and we probably won't be in the room that much. We are a young couple in our early 30's looking for a nicer place, but not willing to pay for the Ritz. Also a place that would include breakfast would be great.

The Hyatt...hands down. The breakfast buffet should be complimentary with your week-long stay in early December (as long as its prior to the high season, starting on December 15th). And, there is really no need to pay for an oceanview room...ask for a mountain-view room in the "Napili Tower" (you'll see rainbows framed by the West Maui Mountains).

Thanks for the help! I was leaning toward the Hyatt, I've heard alot about the Swan Court breakfast. My boyfriend was leaning toward the Marriott because it will be so inexpensive then, but I'm just not sure I want to stay there when they are still doing construction. Anyone know how the construction is going?

We were guests at the Kannapali Alii in May and were told that due to the ongoing construction, guests at the Mariott were allowed to use the pool facilities at the Westin, which is stunning (although we thought the Hyatt pool area was even more outstanding)! (The Alii is located between the Mariott and the Westin) If you're looking to save money on the room, see if the rumor is correct before you book it. The pool area at the Mariott was pretty ripped up, and they did warn about construction noise possibly a problem early and late in the day, but it may be worth it for great savings.
Kannapali Beach is a great location, (the Embassy is not situated along the same "hotel row" in Kannapali, actually out of the area and up the highway a bit.
