MAUI.....GRAND WAILEA???
I am planning a trip to Maui for my family (2 children ages 5 & 8) next spring and I am undecided about where to stay. From all I have read the Grand Wailea looks beautiful.
Can anyone give me their opinion on this hotel? I would also like information on the following:
Grand Wailea's childrens programs?
Grand Wailea's membership program?
How long we should plan our visit to Maui?
How far in advance we need to make reservations?
Kaui as a second stop on our vacation?
Recommed hotels in Kaui?
Any other tips will be appreciated.

Aloha Teri! We stayed at the Grand Wailea last
August. The brochures don't do it any justice. The
place is the most spectacular on Maui! Your kids
will love the water elevator which takes you up to
the top of the water slides. The beach is one of
the nicest on Maui. The children's program from
what I saw of it looks first class. While I was
there Michael Jordan was also there and I saw him
in the play area with one of his kids. On Kauai
our favorite haunt on the north shore is the Hanalei Bay Resort and Suites. Great deal when you
stay in a suite. You get free full breakfasts for
all your party and for the adults two free cocktails
each. You choose. The kids can get great smoothies.
Rent a copy of South Pacific with Mitzie Gaynor and
you'll see what the north shore of Kauai looks like.
That's where they filmed the movie. I use
Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays for booking. Their prices
are the best around when it comes to packages.

If you can afford the GW, you should definitely stay there as stated above. You're kids will walk into the water park area and jaws will drop. The water slides and rock caves are well supervised. A staff person/life guard is placed in line of sight of almost every inch. Don't forget to get to the beach. Snorkeling in Ahihi Bay should not be missed either.

All of the authors above are 100% correct. The Grand is a wonderful place to stay. Oprah stays there! The pool area is wonderful and the kids will have hours of fun. As for Kauai, I love the Hyatt there better than the Hyatt on Maui (renovated beautifully after the big hurricane). Have fun!
