I save up small packets of salt, pepper, soy sauce, mustard, mayo (like come in deli lunches). I can get by with those.

Topping to topple those who would ruin this forum with childish protests. Ban them all!

I packed too much kitched stuff this past summer... We ended up giving a lot of it away to other families as we were leaving. Made some folks very happy...

But what I wish I brought was a good knife, and this would have need easy to transport.

Do get the Safeway card - our first grovery run was around $400 for the seven of us, and we saved ~$100 using the card.

I've never had any food items available except salt/pepper in a Hawaiian condo and I've rented many. Sometimes management leaves a pinapple and/or coffee and condiments for the 1st night. If you rent from vrbo or a private home, it could be different. I know when I've rented homes in the mountains (Tahoe) there are almost always some provisions there, sometimes extensive amounts of food and spices. Some can be quite old though and maybe it's just me, but I don't like using someone else's mustard etc. I've thrown away stuff that expired a year ago (in a nice vacation home I rented from an agency). I'd bet that Napili Kai will have no food provisions, other than a welcome packet of coffee or such. They have a great restaurant on site by the way. I've stayed at Napili Sunset several times and walked down the beach to the Napili Kai restaurant for lunch or dinner. What a great beach location!

Maui has every food item that you will want at a variety of stores. Be sure to check out the farmers market in Honokawai (wonderful pinapple bread and fresh tropical salsas in addition to fresh produce). Check with your condo management on what days they are open. There is also a fish market near the farmers market (we like to make fresh hawaiian fish with a macadamia and coconut coating with mango salsa. We always splurge on 100% kona coffee and pick up a variety of fruits at the farmers markets for a lovely hawaiian breakfast. All the supermarkets carry alcohol. For just the 2 of you, I wouldn't bother packing food to take with you unless it's a particular spice that you know you will use or small packets of things.
