Maui/BI tips

Hey everyone. I'm going on vacation to Maui and the Big Island in a few weeks, and I was wondering if anyone had some tips as to what are the top places to dine and visit on those two islands. We've already planned the old lahina luau. I have a 16, 14, and 10 year old and there is somewhat of a budget. Thanks so much for the help!

Go on the Fair Winds swim, snorkel & scuba (if you prefer) boat cruise to keakakua bay (capt. cook memorial). My 7 yr. daughter loved it and it was very reasonable for a whole afternoon of fun in the sun (approx. $40).

Just returned from our 3rd trip to Maui. While we don't have kids, I think they would like Cheeseburger in Paradise, in Lahaina. As for an activity, I would suggest the Haleakala bicycle ride, although not the sunrise trip. Mid-day is less expensive (still not cheap)and you won't need to wake up at 2 AM. Snorkeling is very good too.

We just returned from 10 days on Maui. Two of our highlights were virtually free: swimming at Big Beach(just gorgeous-we wished we had gone there more) and snorkeling (we did have to rent equipment). We did do a couple of boat trips(ocean rafting and a trip to Molikini) but our favorite snorkeling spot was right from shore at Honolua Bay. Laurie

Try to dine before 5:30 p.m. to save long waiting time. We feasted at Bubba Gumps in Lahaina. 14-yr old son had ribs that fell off the bone. Dipping shrimp bucket was fabulous. Then go shopping afterwards. Fun town!

If your kids are into the ocean I would suggest renting boogie boards or taking surfing lessons. Boggie boards are very fun and dont require alot of time to learn. If you want to go snorkeling I ussually bring my own gear because i have been there 4 times and I rented the first time. But then i got smart and bought my own Snorkeling gear, (Saved alot of money). For dining the place I love to go Is Tony Romas in Kihei they have awsome ribs. And if you go there dont forget to get a side of onion rings they are delicious. You can find coupons for a free half loaf in at least one of the tourist mags.
