I've stayed at Poipu Kai several times. Nice condos but decor different depending on owner. See if you can get photos of interior of exact unit you'll be renting. Some owners don't keep the units updated and some do. Great location/grounds. Have a wonderful trip.

We have stayed in both the Manualoha and Kahala units at Poipu Kai. We prefer the Manualoha units (especially those in bldg 1)because they have the best pool with a lovely view of the ocean and are the closest to Poipu Beach Park. Some of the Kohala units (esp. bldgs 3,4,5 and 6) have lovely ocean views (although further back than Manualoha) but some of the bldgs are close to a busy road. None of the units are right on the beach and there is variation depending on the unit and owner. We have rented from both private owners and Suite Paradise. Ste. Paradise will move you if you are unhappy with your unit and there are other units available. You can also request a specific bldg without paying a surcharge for asking for a specific unit. Poipu Sands is right next to the Hyatt and it closest to Shipwreck Beach- a lovely spot but generally not swimmable. Poipu Sands often gets windy and has lost its view since the Embassy Suites was built in front of it. Both the Regency units and the Makuheuna (sp?) units are a bit of a walk to the beach and I wouldn't stay there. The Regency units are newer and some are a great value but the location and the tiny pool would keep me from staying there. Poipu Kai is a large resort covering a lot of acreage. It is well-maintained and has great footpaths that run from Poipu Beach Park through the resort and all the way to the Hyatt. It's a good value.

Re: Kaanapali Villas. We're not huge Ka'anapali fans, especially in the late fall when a lot of the beach there disappears. We've stayed at a great smaller condo right on the Kihei/Wailea border called Hale Hui Kai that is easy to recommend. It's right on Keawakapua Beach and close to restaurants and shops in Wailea. Great beach, nice oceanfront units, small heated pool, very well managed. A real find.

pspercy: Our dahughter is getting married the first week, so that's out. No real push to go any week, I just picked these 10 days! I've been in contact with hawaiivisitorscenter.com numerous times, and they have some great rates! Jennifer has been a big help with a ton of different quotes for me. You should check it out & see what she can do for you!
