Maui Activities
We are also going to Maui in October and had a few questions. What fishing charter would you recommend for two guys who want to catch the big one. What do you think of the Maui Adventure Rafting Trip to Lanai? We are trying to decide between Trilogy, Pacific Whale Foundation and Maui Adventures. Has anyone been on the America Cup for their sunset cruise? Trying to decide between them and the Kapalua Kai. Thanks again for all of your input.

PeggyEl. I just got back from doing both the Trilogy trip to Lanai and the America II and I can unequivacally say that they are both very nice and worth the money.
Trilogy is a nice big, clean boat with a very nice and helpful crew. The trip leaves early in the morning takes 1.5 hours (at most) to get to Lanai, puts you in at honolua bay to snorkel (which is beautiful) and then has various side trips to engage in while you are on the island. I personally just stayed on the beach and snorkeled and we all enjoyed it very much. One nice touch is that they have their own lifeguard on a surfboard fairly far out at the furthest limit they would advise you to go and they seemed genuinely interested in making sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. The food was quite good (for boat food) and the trip provides you with a sunset cruise on its return. You will enjoy it and I discussed this with many people while on the island (including concierges) and no one had anything but nice things to say about the trilogy Lanai trip.
The America II is a steal at its price (I thing a 2 to 2.5 hour sail is like $35 a person and you get a $10 coupon to apply to your next sailing). I love sailing and feeling the sea mist in my face and this boat goes fast and provides you seating opportunities to get really drenched if you want to (alternatively you can play it safe and sit in the dry seats). My wife and I, as well as our teen and 9 year old and 6 year old loved it. In fact all 20 or so people on board really enjoyed the sailing on it. Great trip with a good 2 man crew. I don't have any experience with the Kapalua Kai, but if you want to get a real taste of a 12 meter sailboat used in the America's Cup race you cannot go wrong with the America II. My only regret is we did it too late on our trip to Maui, for my family and I to use the $10 off coupon for another sailing, because I would have done it twice on the same trip in a heartbeat if I had planned for it.

Thanks much for your great information. We have decided on doing the Trilogy Ultimate Adventure which includes snorkeling, a jeep tour of Lanai and the tour in the raft. It sounds great to us. When you took the America II ride did you do it during the daytime or the sunset cruise? I enjoy boating and am looking forward to this also. Did you make advance reservations for the America II or just wait until the day you wanted to go?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
