I found the Shops at Wailea to be a little more of a "luxury" shopping place. We walked around but only really went there for the ABC Store and Lappert's when we were there. (But we didn't really go to Maui to go shopping.) As for a walk, it's isn't quite like Kaanapali where you can just follow the same path; it was like a separate mall. We never went over there at night just on a walk like we did with Whalers Village. Kaanapali is probably closer to Waikiki if that's what you're looking for.

My advice is to stay near Lahaina. We just got back from Maui and stayed on Kaanapali and spent a lot of time in Lahaina. We also drove the road to Hana. There's plenty of shopping and restaurants in Lahaina. Make sure to visit the Kaanapali area too, and do some whale watching. Have a great time!
