Maui??

Does anyone have any information on the Westin, Hyatt, Sheraton, Marriot or The Whaler in Maui?
I am open to any other suggestions as well. I have also heard condo's are the best value on the island.
Does anyone have any condo's they would recommend?

My husband and I were just in Muai Last week. we stayed at Aston Mahana in Kannapolli. our room was very nice. It is a condo, and it was conveient to have a kitchen.not to metion a washer and dryer, didn't have to pack so much. as far as things to do. When you get there, turn the tv on to channel 7, this is the Maui channel, and it tells you a lot of things to do, and places to eat.

We stayed at the Royal Lahaina on Kaanaapali Beach. It was wonderful! The bike ride down Haleakula is not to be misses although you have to get up very very early in the moring! It is well worth it. The sun rise on top of the mountain is breath taking!! The town of Lahaina is really cool. Have FUN.

Interestingly we, too, were on Maui last week and stayed at the Aston Mahana!!! We, however, rented from an owner, not through Aston. As I looked out my window overlooking Lanai and Molokai, I was glad that I wasn't paying $270.00 for the same view from the Embassy Suites next door. We have scuba info , if you need it. Good luck and have a great vacation. RMM

Change your plans - go to Lanai instead. Or at least take Trilogy Catamaran over to this exclusive island with 2 of the top 10 resort destinations in the world located on them - The Lodge at Koele & Manele Bay Hotel. OR take Expedition a medium sized boat that takes you across the channel to Lanai for like $45.00.

Aloha!

I am also considering a trip to Maui. I have read some postings that strongly recommend staying in condos to save money with the very expensive cost of food on the island. Are there any condos anyone would recommend? I have also heard that a drive to
Hana is a must. How many hours does it take to get there?

We are visiting Maui for seven days again in October and have made reservations with a time share company. They have a fantastic web site at <www.kapalua.com/sullysite>. The best part about there site, that I find, is you can see the interior and exterior views and also the pricing and they offer discounts for internet users and other club cards. They also have a variety of places you can stay at. We have not used them in the past but we are very happy with the literature they have sent, their professionalism on the phone when we have called and their web site presentation. We explained what we wanted and they met our needs. There will be five Adults on our trip and we wanted oceanfront and needed three bedrooms for privacy and that's what we are getting. When you divide the living expenses You can't beat the price. My wife and I have been in the Islands by ourselves and either got a one or two bedroom condo based on availability and what part of the Island we wanted to be on and found the price very attractive also. Hope this helps some, Have a great trip.

I don't think you can post a web site based on re-reading my reply to you. If you want it please e-mail me and I will send it to you.

The trip to Hana is really beautiful but don't expect Hana to be the highlight of the trip. Enjoy the drive, take your time, get out smell the flowers, play in the waterfalls. Actually drive past Hana town and go to Oheo gulch more known as Seven Sacred Pools. You should be able to get to Hana town in 2-3 hours making stops along the way. Once you get to Hana it's another 1/2 hour to the Sacred Pools. Have Fun.

If you have any more questions about Maui, e-mail me. I live on Maui and I'll be happy to answer any of your questions!

We stayed at the Hyatt for our honeymoon and absolutely LOVED it!!! It was great to be pampered and what an incredible hotel! Awesome! If we traveled all the way back to Maui (which we hopefully will do again soon) we would definitely stay there again. Why travel that far to penny pinch?

Stay in a condo. it is so convenient, I would never consider a hotel unless it was just for a few nights. It is great to have your own kitchen, store snacks , make drinks etc.. Also a washer and dryer are almost a must for wet towels etc.. WE have timeshares on Maui and Kauai and have never regretted buying them. We love both islands and know you will too. Really, consider a condo....

What beach is best to stay on in Mauii?- so I can gear my search of accomodations based on that. What other islands do you feel are a must and how long should we stay at each.-Our vacation time will be a 2 week total.- Also, can we take a day trip from Mauii to see the Pearl Harbor memorials or do we have to plan an overnight? I don't want to feel like I'm constantly packing and unpacking. Any suggestions, appreciated. Thanks, Melody

Hi -
We're going on our honeymoon in Novermber. The Hyatt is one of our possibilities. So far, I've been quoted at $325 ocean view room per night (w/taxes). How does that sound???

Thanks,
Rich

I am going to Maui in October and have finally decided to stay at the Hyatt after seeing so many positive reviews on various newsgroups. Can you give a first time traveler to Maui any tips on things to do and places to eat? I have heard food is very expensive in Hawaii can you recommend any nice restaurants that won't break the bank? Thanks for your help - I can't wait to go!!
