Markets in Central or South Maui?

We are staying in a rental house in the Wailea/Makena area. The owner of the house suggested we shop at Safeway in Kihei. Are there any other markets to shop at in the area? Maybe something more like a small produce market with a local flavor? How about in Wailuku or Kahului? Thanks.

In Kahului at both malls(the one where Macys is & the one where Long's is)on Tues/Wed/Fri are Farmer's Markets. Long's in Kihei has one from 8am to noon on Saturdays and there is one at the north end of Kihei road near Canoe club almost every day or at least M-F. The other food markets in Kihei are Foodland or Star Market. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. I love old, funky places like Sueoka's in Koloa on Kaua'i and I thought there might be something like that on Maui. So...there is a farmers market that we might swing by on Monday. The location in Kihei is the "Suda parking lot". Where the puka shell is that?

It's North end of Kihei road before Mokulele Hwy. Just drive north on Kihei road & it will be on the Right. If you get to the next hiway-you went too far.

No, not a local but we've stayed here for 1 or 2 months last few years and are here now. Personally, for fruit & veggies (we eat in a lot)we prefer the Maui Mall Farmer's Mkt in Kahului on Kaahumanu Ave. where Long's is. Have a great trip.

Thanks TAW. What day and time is that one? Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see it listed on the list that Dusty posted.

Also, Long's in Kihei has a small one on Sat mornings from 8am to noon in front of store-you need to get there early if you want papaya.
