march weather

Im visiting DC at the end of march from the UK and would like to know, generally of course, what sort of weather to expect. I move on to Florida thereafter so hope not to have to pack two full sets of clothing. Any info would be great. Thanks

Unfortunately, you have to pack two sets of clothes. In DC it can be 75 degrees of 40. Nobody knows for sure. Wear layers and have a good time in Florida during Spring Break.

Pat2003 is giving you wise advise, but I'll also add, we're having an exceptionally mild winter, and unless you intend to spend a great deal of time outdoors, I think you can get away with bringing either a leather jacket or a good down vest, and a scarf and hat, plus some turtlenecks or other warm things to layer underneath your clothes if you need them.

You'd be taking a chance of ending up having to buy something warmer here if you got a cold snap, and spending more on taxis. But there are plenty of places in late march to buy a cheap parka.

I've lived in DC a pretty long time now, and of course, you can't say for sure but it is definitely not going to be that warm or anything close to Florida weather, you can count on that.

Well, how long do you plan to be here? Maybe you can get by with one set of clothes for DC, although actually, I don't know what you wear, but you might want something you'd use in Florida -- like a pair of jeans. Then, any sort of long-sleeved top would do, or just take one you can layer over a Tshirt. Bring some kind of light jacket or sweater, you might want that for Florida, anyway.

YOu could probably get by with a pair of jean, shirt with some fairly warm pullover or fleece top or jacket, and a pair of real shoes (not just sandals).

March isn't usually weather to write home about, it is often grey and rainy and just dull, but shouldn't be super cold. You are NOT going to get by with beach wear, no way.

To give you a sense...our weather over the past week or so has been high in the 40s-50s during the day, low in the 20s-30s at night. This coming weekend, though, we're expecting highs in the 60s-low 70s.

As all the other posters have said...it's anybody's guess!

Exactly. Weather prediction for the DC area is a lot more reliable and accurate for anyplace in the UK. If you check a couple of days before your flight, you'll know what to expect.
