A couple of friends and I are "on the road" and are looking forward to the excitement of the tournament in a sports book someplace. We know many, but are wondering if any of you have been there during this time? Is there a place that treats the patrons extremely well? Free beer perhaps, or appetizers. We will be spending the entire day(s) at this place. And of course we need a place that has plenty of large TVs to cover all the games. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

OK now I'm jealous!

Even though I get to Vegas on a regular basis, I have not been during tournament time. I understand it is "the" place to be. I would probably hang at Caesars or MGM or Mandalay. I like those sports books.

One note: I was at Caesars for the final NBA game last summer and the patrons were complaining that they were being charged for drinks, which is not usually the case. I saw nothing wrong with that. Here you are taking up space for a couple of hours on one game that you may or may not have waggered on. They expected freebies on top of that? I suspect that it may be different for March Madness.

Haven't been to Vegas during March Madness, but I have frequented the sports books at Paris, Venetian, Hard Rock, The Palms, and a few others I'm having a hard time remembering at the moment... By far, though, our fave sports book is Venetian. It has a large area, many big screen tvs on the walls, and the best cocktail service of all of them -- and we've never paid for a cocktail there. Tip nicely (per drink) and you will continue to get good service. Have fun!

Just thought I'd mention what we discovered. We visited Green Valley Casino on the way to a golf course and found it to be a wonderful place. I think watching the games from here would have been good though getting a seat might have been questionable. We also visited the Hilton and again same comments as GV. A friend suggested Imperial Palace (I was skeptical) as they open a ballroom and put 10-12 large screen TVs in it. We went on the first day, found a table right away, watched all the games, ate their food and drank their beer, and just had a great time. Room for anyone. Interestingly enough however, we checked out the bar by the sports book, found about a dozen TVs spaced very close together, pulled up a couple of slot stools, and had the greatest view of all the games we could have dreamed of. Sooooo, I'd certainly recommend the IP. Less expensive minimums on the table games also. Great trip, great time.

Did you win anything on the games?
How was the strip for those days....busy, hi minimum games, fun activities?
Do you feel that prices were up, down or the same because of the tournament?
Where did you stay and how was it?
