Mapquest road trip planner gone!

It's gone - deleting my saved route & all!

Anyone have suggestions for OTHER road trip planner free sites that were as easy to use as Mapquest?

Yes - it still has driving directions, but not road trip planner (where you could put driving directions from point to point (multiple stops) for your whole route all at one go.

The Mapquest "help" button still shows road trip planner, but when you click on it, it indicates this is no longer available. It used to be one of the options at the top. Now the options are just maps, driving directions, yellow paes.

www.aaa.com website automatically "refreshes" to our Canadian caa website. It will not allow non-members to use the "internet triptik". There is no other option for road trip planning.

Any other suggestions? I tried Rand-McNally but it isn't as co-operative as Mapquest was.

Thanks everyone. I'll try those. I also found www.rv.com

It is a little more time consuming to use and doesn't print maps for each section of the route, but prints depart/arrival estimated times.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I use Rand McNally TripMaker (software), which allows you to do exactly the kind of trip planning you describe and can print maps as well as directions. It costs about $10.

Here's a recommendation for Microsoft Streets & Trips. The latest version has been out for a while now and I've seen it at reduced price or with a rebate. Or, you could try Pricegrabber.com

Having your own software is far more advantageous. Easier to use and better printing. Lots faster as well. Most hotels/motels and many restaurants, along with most sights and attractions are included. Many other very useful features. And, you can make your own annotations, highlight things, etc.

Not only do I find this invaluable for road trips, it's terrific for getting around once you reach your destination.

If you have a laptop, you can install it on that and bring it along. Also downloads maps to PDA's with Windows CE.

OK folks! Here is a website you will thank me for. http://terraserver.microsoft.com/

It does not give directions but it shows a satallite photo of almost any location in the US. I found my house on it and you can zoom out to see the overall larger surrounding areas. And as far as I know its still free.

You are welcome in advance. \/

We have developed a driving route planning website, currently available at www.speedyroute.co.uk

The website is currently still under development / in the beta testing stage, and is currently free for *any* number of destinations, including the USA. Enter your start/stop location, and any number of locations to visit, and the website will re-order the locations to provide the optimal route, visiting all the locations in the shortest time and distance, and also provides driving directions. Please take a look, and forward any suggestions about the website to [email protected]

Regards,

Nick Talbot
