Aargh!!! Lose the keys? Virtaully all better hotels have cards, not keys. If lost, the key is invalidated immediately upon being reported--it will no longer function in any door or equipment they have to check them. Photo ID and call back to front desk to verify registration would be necessary before you would be admitted to any keyed facility.

Bite the bullet and pay for what you want.

Screw the friends! MB is the best freaking hotel on the strip, especially if the pool is important to you! Hell, you can meet at the Luxor pool next door. They don't check your keys and it's a decent area with hot chicks all over the place.

You guys are hilarious. Again, thanks for the advice. I'm honestly not trying to get "something for nothing," I just have never been to Vegas and don't know how the pools there operate. We're a bunch of girls getting together for a weekend, we're not so much into the gambling thing, and I've been told hanging out at the pools is what everyone does during the day!! Again, thanks for all the advice on this thread. I found it very helpful. Hopefully we'll all end up at MB!

No comparison to the two pools....TI and MB...You will have a much better time at MB. Don't miss the free pirate show at TI and watch your purse..it is a hot spot for thieves during the show.

Let me tell you about a little story of non-guests at MB pool....

...we visited LV for first time end of January. High on our list of priorities was visiting the different hotels. MB is beautiful, no doubt about it. Having read so much about their 'beach' pool, we asked the gate attendant if we could see it. We were honest and told him we weren't MB guests and weren't going to use their pool or 'beach'. He told us there was an observation deck and gave us directions to it. We walked and walked (like every place in LV) and walked some more and not sure that we actually found the observation deck but did see the 'beach'. HA!!! It was drained and under construction...grrrrrrrrrr. Other pools were open, just not the beach.

The jerk could have told us it was closed. Big I got even...when we returned inside the hotel, I put $2 in their giant slot machine won $30 on my first pull and walked away. No need to leave them any more $.

The answer is on the hotel website. it says: "Beach access limited to hotel guests only. Each guest, regardless of age, must have a key to enter the beach."

I know, but in many cases, doesn't hurt to ask, especially where we simply wanted to see the beach, not use it.

you could try turning up in lifeguard gear to pretend to work if you're that desperate or chat up the lifeguards on duty

Our family will be staying at MB in mid April. Check their website. Since I booked in November the prices have changed several times and all you need to do is call and you can keep getting the lower rate. Yes you have to pay $35 extra per person over 2 people in the room (that's a rip-off) But we are still paying for this because of the great things we hear about the pool. Geez I hope the construction is over by then! Also we learned that you pay for any "extras" at the hotel. My husband likes to workout and he'll have to pay to use their gym! That's just not nice!! We're guests!!! and I've heard that you have to rent a tube for the day if you want to use the lazy river. That'll probably be an extra $80/day for our family of 4. I sure hope this pool is worth the extra $ we'll be spending. Hope I can hit it big to help defray these costs. YIKES!

Does anyone know if I can have access to some shade at this pool. I have a history of melanoma and as much as I like the sun I do need to be careful. Are there cabanas available here? Does a palm tree offer any shade? We're from upstate NY and don't know much about a palm tree!! Thanks and good day

Here's a solution, I think:

Get two keys.

Go in with a friend.

Leave with both keys, while friend remains.

Find another friend, who then uses the key and reenter.

Repeat till everyone is inside.

I used this technique in High School to sneak friends down from the rafters to front row at concerts.

MB has high security...their computer might recognize a strange pattern and bust you. You'd think they have better ways to spend their time.

When was it that the beach was closed? We're going in April also and have booked the MB for the pool. Also, anyone know how warm it is in April? Does the monorail system run through Mandalay Bay?

Do you really have to pay $20 per tube to ride on the lazy river?

Hi parkcitygal,

The tubes are around $20 per day to hire but you do not need them to go into the lazy river, just enter at the steps and go with the flow ( the lifguards may have something to say if you are going constantly against the current and it is busy)

parkcitygal and Scoot: We were at MB on Feb 1. From another post I read it is now open.

Tram goes from Excalibur passes the Luxor and onto MB. If you start at MB it stops at both Luxor and Excalibur
