Mandalay Bay Las Vegas

My family and I are going to Las Vegas in June. We are going to stay 5 nights at the Mandalay Bay. Is it connected to the Luxor via a moving walkway? Does it have a nice pool area? And is it kid friendly? We have a 15 year old son. Thanks to everyone who has posted messages to my questions.

We just stayed at the Excalibur (not great) in Jan. and IT was connected to the Luxor by a moving walkway. From what I saw the Mandalay is much too far away from these two hotels to be connected - maybe I missed something! Mandalay looks interesting - hope it's enjoyable!

There is a tram (not yet operational) connecting Mandalay Bay to Luxor. For now, there is an interior walkway connecting the two.

Ann,

MB has been a big disappointment. The tram (people mover) is not yer operational as is alot of the restaurants and wave pool. This property was not fully functional on the grand opening and the personnel leaves much to be desired.

Hope by the time you arrive, they will have done some serious changes.

I just walked in the door from a trip to LV and a 4 day stay at the Mandalay Bay. My room overlooked the lagoon area and that would be an nice view...also see the airport...it was chilly, so few were using the pool. I found the service to be just fine. My first trip to LV...I had read the negative comments about the MB and was apprehensive...I thought it was a great place...I am not a gambler, so I have no idea about that aspect...Brkfst brunch at the Bay Side (8.95) was very nice...we enjoyed an interesting meal in the Zen rstrnt...your son might enjoy the House of Blues rstrnt....There were plenty of children around...if the weather is warm...the pool...The people mover is still "iffy", but walking to the Luxor is not a problem...don't miss the water display at the Bellagio...and the conservatory there

Ann-
Many good suggestions here but I've heard a lot of positive things about MB. Read some of the articles on it at:
www.e-vegas.net/exchange Click on "current articles". I'll be happy to help you with any OTHER infor about L.V. (haven't been to MB yet)...write me at the above address. Also when visiting the url above, click on THE VEGAS VISITOR (that's me) and read my many articles about Las Vegas. Above all--
have a great time!!
