Mammoth /June Lakes Hotels?

Any recommendations for good places to stay in the fall for four people in this area?

There are several hotels in Mammoth Lakes, some of the typical chains, Holiday Inn, Travel Lodge. However there are tons of condo type properties. I have one there that sleeps 6.

Are you looking for a hotel or condo in the ski resort town, or more of a rustic cabin at one of the actual lakes (Mary, George or Mamie)?

More like hotel/condo/cabin, but not too "rustic." Some cabins have minimum stay req's though, and we'll only be there three or four nights. Mammoth town and June lakes are two areas I'm familiar with, but I'm open to suggestions.

Most of the lodging in June Lake should not rate more than 2 diamonds from AAA. The only exception would be the Double Eagle Resort. www.doubleeagleresort.com

Three or four nights in the fall are plenty to even get a condo. Prices are low due to the off season.

We stay in a condo on the golf course, Mammoth Lakes in the summer or at Juniper Springs. We like both of them. I get a really good deal from a private party for the Juniper Springs condo. It's a hotel type property but each unit has a kitchen and a licing and dining area. 3 jacuzzis and a heated pool.

You could also stay at the Village.

My DH looked in on the Tamarack Lodge up at the lakes area and said they were terrific. Here's a link:

The Westin Monache is now in Mammoth, we stayed there this past weekend and it is a beautiful resort with many nice amenities in a fantastic location. My son stayed 4 nights at the Tamarack Lodge last week, we joined him for dinner at the Lakefront restaurant there which was fantastic. French Onion Soup, Elk Medallions au Poivre, Spinach Salad and the Fillet Mignon were all of the highest quality. We loved Mammoth, this was our first time here but not our last! ***kim***

My family has a reunion at the Double Eagle Resort at June Lake every September. There are both cabins and hotel rooms, indoor pool and spa, restaurant, and a small trout pond.

This was a post form 2006 but kimamom just had to drag it up so she could post that she was in Mammoth.

Geez. I wish people would mention they're bringing up an old post for a reason...
