maitaitom, One of my favorite missions and one of the lesser visited and known is Mission San Antonio de Padua on the grounds of Hunter Ligget Military Base near Kings County.
I visited it as a child (with my family) and it is in the middle of nowhere and makes you feel like Calif was back in the early days.

Below is a report (with photos) on my 12th mission (La Purisima Concépcion), which I visited in November. Another pleasant surprise.
Last weekend, I hit two more (in San Francisco and San Rafael).
The end is in sight...

maitai, what wonderful travels! I love the California Missions. One of my favorites is San Antonio de Padua located at Hunter Ligget Military Base in Kings County. It is similar to La Purisima's rural charm.

Another mission is in the books…lucky #13. We stopped in and took a self-guided tour of Misión San Francisco de Asís in San Francisco (aka Mission Delores) on a beautiful day in "The City." Check out the cemetery (not for yourself). It was the nicest one so far. If you're not into cemeteries, the rest of the mission is pretty, too. Eight to go!!!!

Thank you for your mission report! I've been to three missions in the past few years - Santa Barbara, San Juan Capistrano and Santa Buenaventura. My parents took us to one or two missions in the Bay Area when I was a kid. I left my purse in one mission, ran back in to retrieve it, but someone had stolen my $5. It was so traumatic!

Well, we are now 2/3 of the way to our appointed goal of visiting all 21 California missions. After touring Misión San Francisco de Asís in San Francisco (aka Mission Delores), we drove the short distance to Mission San Rafael Arcángel.
It was my least favorite of the 14 missions we have gone to in the past five years, but if you read the little report (with photos, of course), I did mention a good place to eat in San Rafael. Fourteen Down...Seven to Go!

It looks like our So. Cal. baseball park pilgrimage will actually come to pass this summer (mid-late July). Interspersed with prayers (for maitaitom and the Tribe) at nearby missions.
Stay tuned.
Stay tuned.
