Lots of things to do in this area. But you can easily spend the entire time in Acadia and on Mt Desert Island--MDI.
Ellsworth is a nice, sleepy little town, a few stores--including an LLBean outlet, a few restaurants.
Try the Lumberjack Show on Rte 3, between Ellsworth and MDI, each night at 7PM.
Blue Hill is nearby. Very pretty.
But really you will barely have time to visit the different towns on MDI.
I don't have time to list everything--family commitments--but if you search "Acadia" you will find many things mentioned in recent posts.

Ellsworth has several good places to eat, including the Union River lobster pound. There's a place near Cadillac Mountain Sports -- I believe it's called Ralph's -- that will make a nice little take-out lunch for hiking in Acadia. You'll be very close to the park and some excellent miniature golfing.
