Maine Coast: Ogongquit to Acadia

I'm planning a 9-10 day trip for next late-May, early June. Since this is a special anniversary vacation, I'm hoping to find really wonderful accommodations. We love quiet and privacy and terrific views. I'd much appreciate recommendations in the various towns along the way. By the way, when we did a similar trip half a dozen years ago, our favorite town of all was Camden, but I don't remember there being any accommodations of the sort we like best, i.e. great water views as well as spacious and fine rooms that are truly quiet. Would love to be able to stay in Camden if there's something of the sort now. Many thanks!

If you are a bit flexible on your dates I would aim for mid-June when the lupines are in bloom. One of the towns on the Blue Hill Peninsula has a lupine festival. Stonington, I think, very local not big but you get a map to the best lupine views. This is the peninsula just south of Mt Desert.
We usually camp when we visit Maine. Had an oceanfront site at Searsport Shores a couple of years ago!

I very much wish we could do the trip in mid or late June, but it's connected with Colby's graduation (May 27), so that's when it needs to happen. I've even been thinking we maybe ought not to plan to extend the Maine visit, i.e. because of good chance of fog, rain, cool weather etc. Thinking maybe just do the Colby thing and fly off somewhere where good weather conditions are more likely. On the OTHER hand, we so loved the Maine coast the one time we visited that we're eager to see it again.
And while we've loved camping at another stage in our life, we're looking for a very different sort of accommodation these days.

We are thinking of touring Maine late August. This in connection with the American Folk Fesitval in Bangor. Daughter and husband from Amesbury, MA, likely going along. What does anyone recommend for historic sites, coastal harbors, scenery? Also any suggestions about motels in Bangor or nearby? Or B&Bs anywhere? Thanks!!!

My husband and 2 little girls just got back from Bar Harbor, where we met some very friendly people who were staying at the Bar Harbor Inn and gave it rave reviews. It has amazing views of the harbor with all the little sailboats, lobster boats and the schooner "Margaret Todd" with it's beautiful brown sails. There are also views of the Porcupine Islands, and you're right in the heart of town next to Agamont Park, the town pier and Main Street. Oh, and the shore path begins right at the inn, so you can enjoy daily walks along the water.

One caveat...if you stay on the eastern-facing side of the inn you will be awoken by the sun rising : )
