Mackinac Island recommendations

We will be traveling to the island with another couple the second week of September to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. I am looking for a recommendation for dining on the evening of his birthday (Tuesday). I am comfortable in the $35-45 pp range without drinks if the food and atmosphere are good. Also hoping that sport coats are not necessary on the island to enable us to travel light. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

So many great places to eat, I grew up in Michigan and would go to Mackinac but there wasn't one specific place we would eat so sorry I don't have a recommendation there. However, there are many places where fudge is made and we would love trying samples.
As for sport coats/ warm jackets, definitely bring them. The weather can turn on you so fast in Michigan and in September it's probably going to be around the 50s

The Grand Hotel is a beautiful place for a celebration (evening wear is required). It is more than the $$ range you specify, but the food and atmosphere can't be beat.

The Woods Restaurant, which is run by the Grand, is in a Tudor mansion on the Island interior. You would want to take a (horse drawn) taxi. It is more casual than the Grand and does not have the dress code. Lovely setting and food.

If you would like to see the water, I would reserve a table by the water in the Pink Pony Bar & Grill in the Chippewa Hotel.

Thank you for the input. The Woods and Pink Pony were considerations that I will go back and revisit!

We went with the recommendation for the Woods and were not disappointed. Food, service and atmosphere were outstanding. The taxi driver recommended a drink on the veranda at the Inn at Stoncliffe to catch the sunset prior to our dinner and it was beautiful, also.
