Mackinac Island

Dining suggestions and place to have a drink and eat.. We will be on the island before Memorial Day with our sons (24 and 26). Our boys will ride the their bikes and my husband I will do the carriage ride. But overwhelmed with dining.. Also thought about a picnic. We have considered Grand Hotel for Lunch

I’ve been there twice. We ate at Mary’s Bistro Draught House for lunch once and enjoyed the food and being on the water.

The other time we went we had dinner at Horn’s Gaslight Bar and Restaurant. They had live entertainment that night which was very good and the food was decent.

I’ve never been to The Grand Hotel, I’ve only admired it from a distance. We rode bikes around the island, which was nice and scenic. Some of our group did horseback riding.

The second time I went we did the carriage ride and enjoyed it. I think it depends on your driver/guide, because I’ve heard some people did not enjoy their ride.

I hope someone else chimes in with recommendations, being there only two times in the past 20 years does not make me an expert. The island is beautiful with lots of scenic views and gorgeous flowers. I hope you and your family have a wonderful visit.

I was there last October and we had lunch at the Grand Hotel on the porch. The food was good, the view was very nice and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Just down from the The Grand Hotel is another spot for lunch - it's on the right hand side - it's owned by the Grand Hotel and that was good as well. I really don't think you could go wrong with the dining options. Our meals were all good.

We did rent bikes and rode around the island twice. it's an easy ride (we are 63) and we enjoyed it. We also did a carriage tour and our guide was very good and it was a lot of fun. It's a beautiful spot - enjoy!
