Stayed at the Luxor about 3 years ago. Really enjoyed this hotel. Only negative thing is the location. It's located near the south end of the strip. It's not center. You can take the cab, bus, or walk to get to the center of the strip. All in all it's a very pretty hotel. We had a room in the tower, not the pyramid. Heard reviews that the pyramid rooms are smaller. Our room was very pretty. Marble bathroom. I'd definetly recommend this hotel.

I stayed there a year ago August. The hotel was fine it's just too far from the action. On weekends, the LV crowds were horrendous and the street was more like a parking lot. Walking in the heat was pretty uncomfortable. But, the hotel was a good value. Just be aware that

Sorry, my connection crashed. T finish my sentence... just be aware that you are at the end of the strip and walking a relatively short distance can be uncomfortable with the heat if you're not use to it.

I also stayed here once a few years back. Stayed in a pyramid room; I thought it was sufficiently large, clean, & had interesting Egyptian decor, plus the sloping wall on the pyramid side of the room is kind of neat. Pyramid rooms only have a shower (no tub), but it is a nice, big shower. If a tub is important, or you want a larger room, pick the tower - I've not stayed in those rooms, but they are supposed to be even newer & nicer; I probably would stay in a pyramid room again myself, though, as I thought it was just neat.
Casino is a bit dark & harder to navigate than some, in my opinion. Still a nicely maintained casino, newer machines, felt on the tables in good shape; just not my preferred ambiance. (For reference, my favorite casino is the one in Monte-Carlo.)
Location does keep you stuck on the south end of the strip, however, there is a tram & connecting walkways between Excalibur-Luxor-Mandalay Bay. And from Excalibur, it's easy to cross the street to either MGM or NY-NY. So, there's a lot of the big south strip casinos you can get to easily.
The stip is long - wherever you base yourself, you'll be a good distance from something else you need/want to see!
Luxor's a fine choice, you'll have a great time.

For the price, it's a very nice hotel. Not so hectic and loud as some of the other inexpensive hotels. For the lenght of time you are going to be there, definitely try and get an upgrade to the tower rooms, which are very roomy. The one drawback as far as the pools - even though they are huge, they are all only 4' deep. Also the walking surface at the pool area is VERY slick and treacherous if your feet are wet.
