We always make it a point to stop at Papa Joe's (mile marker 79.7 in Islamorada.) Another place we found on our last road trip to the Keys was Ziggie's Gumbo & Crab Shack in Islamorada @83000 Overseas Hwy. Both of these places are on the bay side and Ziggies was a little difficult to see, but it was worth turning around for when we missed it (we were following someone's directions.) Ziggies had the best conch fritters and their cajun food was wonderful & plentiful.
Any of the restaurants mentioned are great. Don't forget to stop and get the See Florida Keys booklet, it will have loads of discount coupons in it (www.SEE-FloridaKeys.com)
In Key West, the food at La-Te-Da's was fabulous. And the beachside restaurant owned by Kelly McGillis had a delicious seafood quiche. This is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. I can't remember the name, but just ask any tourist or hotel personnel and they'll know.
Enjoy your trip!

We liked this place, great conch fritters (actually I think their menu calls them conch balls
. http://www.conchcafe.com/. Just an FYI - there is a little booth right outside the Key West Aquarium that also has tasty conch fritters.
