Lunch in Waikiki

Just for lunch, the Royal Hawaiian is OK. I ate there a few times. However, I would go to House Without A Key at the Halekulani. Casual and relaxed but at the same time they have the best service and good food.
What I can't figure out is why Royal Hawaiian and Moana Surfrider has bugs and pigeons crawling all over their patios, when on the exact same beach the Halekulani had none! It really is a nice place.

I like House Without A Key, too. But I like it even better after 5PM when there is entertainment and it's mai tai time.
Royal Hawaiian will be $$$$$$ for lunch, but it is lovely. You will especially enjoy it if pink is your favorite color, LOL.
I also like Duke's at the Outrigger Waikiki. Very casual, fabulous ocean view, and an affordable lunch buffet (not gourmet!)
The dining room at Neiman Marcus (The Mariposa) at Ala Moana shopping center is very pretty.
Hau Tree Lanai at the "quiet end" of Waikiki near Diamond Head in the New Otani is a beautiful spot for a relaxing lunch.

I would like to put a third vote in for Duke's Canoe Club. It is casual and right on the beach. Actually it is housed in the hotel immediately next door to the Royal Hawaiian. If you want to experience Royal Hawaiian just go to their outdoor bar for a drink (I think I heard Mai Tai's were invented at that bar) and then walk next door to Duke's. Duke's has a web-site - you can check them out. Order hula pie for dessert. Mmmm. We went to Duke's the one night we were on Oahu, the first night of our honeymoon - the rest was spent on Maui. I never regretted eating our one dinner on Oahu at Duke's.

Actually, Chai's is in Aloha Tower marketplace....which is not in Waikiki, but I believe there is a trolley that goes there. Aloha Tower has a number of places to eat.
I always like the Surf Room at the Royal Hawaiian. I also vote for Mariposa in Neiman Marcus, or the Pineapple Room in Macy's (both at Ala Moana Center).
