Lunch in Crested Butte

Any recommendations? We're planning on making a stop there on the way to Denver during a late September trip.

And, other than heading back to Gunnison and then taking 50 to 24, is there a "realistic" (we'll have 4WD) northerly route to get to Denver? We can get there (Denver) late.

TIA!

Topping for you.
Don't know specific lunch places, but Slogar used to be very nice for dinners. We haven't been there in years. Crested Butte is lovely. I hope someone who knows will respond!

Try the Last Steep. there is also a bakery thee, sorry can't remember the name that's good too. Also the Buffalo grill but not sure it's open for lunch.

South of Crested Butte is Almont. You can go east there through Taylor Canyon, then over the Continental Divide at Cottonwood Pass to 24. Very scenic.

The Gunnison side is paved and the Buena Vista side is a very well maintained gravel road. My husband didn't even mind taking the motorcycle on it (they hate gravel roads). Any vehicle would do fine so I'm sure your's would too.

Just go downtown in CB and stroll around until a cafe or restaurant catches your eye. Haven't been there in a couple of years myself. If The Timberline is open for lunch I'd go there. I'm pretty sure Slogar is only open for dinner but it's my one "must have" when we are in Crested Butte. Wooden Nickle is good for burgers. Danita's for Mexican or another spot a couple of blocks down from Danita's on the same side of the street but I can't pull the name out right now!
