Lunch in Berkley Springs WV??
Can anyone recommend a spot with a bit of ambiance (foliage views, maybe) and a price that will not break the bank, ie, no more than $20 per. I checked the Coolfont page but cannot get any information about their restaurant.

Coolfont's restaurant is closed. The only place with a view (and very good food) is the Panorama but it is not open for lunch. The best place for lunch is Tari's right in town...but no view:

Trip report:
Today, we took our little fall jaunt to see foliage within easy driving distance of northernmost DC 'burbs. Drove 70W to 340S to Harpers Ferry then picked up Route 9 toward Berkeley Springs, WVA. Lovely views along the way. Peak will be gone by the week-end.
Passed an orchard on the left in WVA that had a magnificent and not costly array of apples and other assorted fall produce.
Lunch at Tari's in BS, WVA was wonderful. A bit pricey for lunch (about $50 for the 3 of us), but then, we DID spring for dessert. Waitstaff was efficient and attentive. Great selection of lunch items from salads and soups to light entrees; comfortably spacious dining area. Highly recommend Tari's!!! Neat shops in the area including the one in the restaurant.
Returned home via 70W to 66N to 77E and 15S through Hagerstown and Cunningham Falls area and back to Frederick and home via 70W. More orchards, but I do wish we had turned North instead of South at intersection of 15 to go to Cotoctain Orchards where we could have bought Gala apples as no other orchards on the trip still had them.
Cunningham Falls area is the area where Camp David is, but my husband (who has hunted near there) says if you stumble upon the gate (only way to find it) there are not so subtle 'encouragements' to turn around and go back the way you came...LOL!
Bottomline...delightful fall day so if this is the type of activity that interests you and you are in this area, now is the time to do it.
