YUCK do not go the Polynesian Cultural center as waste of your time and money.
All of the Luas on Oahu are very commercial and in my mind not worth the splurge unless you are up for cheese. Can be fun but don't the idea that you are seeing a ritual practised as it was centuries ago.
On Oahu you have many world class restaurants like Alan Wong's, 3666, on the Rise, Roy's and many more. I suggest you spend your money here and have an experience you will remember in a good way.
Only Luau on Oahu that is respected among locals is "Old Lahaina Luau" on Mauai, most others are a waste of time and money.

We went to the Feast at Lele on Maui. The food was better than other luaus we've been to and we had our own table in front. The food is served to you so you don't have to stand in a buffet line. They had a cancellation, so we lucked out with the private table.

I wouldn't recommend going to the Polynesian Cultural Center just for the food, but if you are really interested in the dancing, the show at the PCC is terrific. They have a large "theater," and the night we went it was 80-90% full (in late July). Another reader a couple of weeks ago said they were sold out the night they wanted to go and they had to choose another night. Obviously a lot of people like the place!

I would have to agree. Having lived on Oahu, a long time ago..., I have seen many luau's. But the "Old Lahaina Luau" is by far the best, most authentic, that I have seen. Don't ever expect much from Luau food. A little pork, a little potato, salad, a little this and that. But the dancing and music are usually great and the participation fun. If you are interested in the native Hawaiian dance, I would suggest looking into somewhere that presents both styles, Kahiko and Awana (sp?)
