Is this possible in sixteen days? Probably. Is it WORTH trying in that amount of time? I'd say no, and I'm the kind of traveller that doesn't mind driving from Quebec City to Philadelphia in one day. There's just too much beauty between Vegas and Wyoming (I presume you specifically mean Yellowstone, which you would be insane to skip if you go to Wyoming). You'd be arriving at Bryce NP, looking over the Rim for five minutes, saying "That's a nice view," and then leaving. That's NOT the way to see Utah. For sixteen days total, plan a little less ambitiously.
The weather SHOULD be okay even as far north as Yellowstone, but a snowstorm COULD hit even in the mountains of northern Utah. Watch the weather carefully and be ready for anything.

Hello Ann,
We did that same type trip a couple Septembers ago. You will love it!
We spent 2 nights in Vegas, then onto Bryce for 3 nights, up to Yellowstone for 3, Jackson Hole for 4, back through St. George and ended in Vegas for another night. There was plenty of time for sightseeing, hikes, etc.
With 16 days you'd have time for Zion or Grand Canyon as well.
We went late September. Weather was very cold in Bryce (cold front moved in while we were there) but Yellowstone and Jackson were in the high 60s, low 70s. Fall colors were terrific!
Enjoy your trip planning. That's beautiful country you'll be going through.
Happy travels!

just to put a perspective on time. i drove from west yellowstone to vegas straight thru in 13-14 hours taking route 15, this was several years ago so there could be a little more traffic but the point is the distance is doable.
you can easily make this loop and see things in the time you are going unless you are an avid hiker as hiking takes time - there would be so many hikes that you'd want to do you would be overwhelmed.
sept is beautiful weather but you can hit snow in the highest elevations. it is usually a temporary thing on the roads. fyi 15 is the shortest distance as you can see by the map, you will be doing a much less direct route.
i suggest that in your loop you break up some of the utah sights, see some on the way up and and others on the way back instead of a straight shot back to vegas from wyoming.

I'd say you have plenty of time for that particular trip. We live in far western Nebraska (20 miles from the Wyoming state line) and drove to Las Vegas this summer in 1 1/2 days. On the way home, we slowed it down and looped through western Colorado--spending some time in Durango/Ouray. It was a great trip and we saw some beautiful country. Have fun!
