Los Angeles

A girlfriend and I are going to take a roadtrip to LA for the weekend later this month. We would like to see sites, shop and talk. Any suggestions as to where to go?

give some direction as to what you like -
museums, historical sites, high end shops, boutiques, second hand stores, etc, etc -
do you already have lodging?

Getty Museum, Santa Monica for Third Street Promenade and the pier. Malibu for a sunset cocktail and sushi. Melrose and The Grove for shopping.

I like interesting, fun, wacky, and she likes nicer shopping, but not really high end. I'm not picking the hotel.

Third Street in Santa Monica is great for different price ranges of food and shopping.

I'd also recommend checking out Robertson Blvd in Beverly Hills. It's more high end (though stores like Kitson have some cheaper things), but it's become paparazzi central and can be a fun spot for tourists.
