Looking for Vacation Destination

I will be graduating high school in mid-June and my friends and I would like to take a trip by train. We are having trouble (1) coming up with ideas of where to go and (2) agreeing on something! Help is desperately needed!!! We need to go somewhere on the east coast, preferably a city with a subway system, and somewhere that isn't known for crime. Money is also an issue, the cheaper the better, we have to pay for college soon!! We would greatly appreciate any suggestions!! Thanks!

Why not think about D.C.? It's got tons of fabulous museums, shopping, theaters, etc. It also has a nice metro...

Good luck!

DC is certainly your best bet for ease of travel once there, and while it's not cheap, it's not nearly as expensive as NYC.
Boston is a great city as well, but a little harder to get around.

DC is a great option. The sites and museums are all free. The subways are clean and easy to get around in.

Sorry for the incomplete sentence. I hit the wrong key and my reply went in.

You should be able to get a good deal on Priceline.

You may also wan to consider hostels such as: 2005 Columbia Hostel, (202) 265-4006; Hostelling Int'l, (202) 737-2333; Simpkins Downtown Int'l, (202) 387-1328.

Also, many of the DC Universities rent the dorms rooms out in the summer such as: Catholic University of America, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, The American University and Mount Vernon College.

Have a great trip!
