Stephlampson,
I haven't been there recently but I'm thinking that "Palisades" might fit the bill. Check it out:

Romatic is somewhat subjective, but these places are all anniversary worthy, in my opinion. There will be many reviews of them all online-they probably all have their own websites as well.
El Gaucho
Union
Mistral
Cascadia
Chez Shea
Maxamilien in the Market

Sgorces, I was glad to read your comment about Palisades. When I spend a lot of money on a meal, I want better food and service than Palisades offers. However, aren't the Herbfarm and Rovers two of the most expensvie restaurants in Seattle? What restaurants do you like where two can eat dinner for $100 or less? Happy Trails

happytrails,
<aren't the Herbfarm and Rovers two of the most expensvie restaurants> maybe among them but certainly not the only ones in that range (think Mistral etc.) and the person who posted the original question said price was not an issue.
<where two can eat dinner for $100 or less?> Do you have cocktails and a bottle of wine with the meal? I ask only because the bar tab can easily be 1/2 the check total anywhere.

I had a meal at Earth and Ocean.
The room has a stark, modern decor; the food was good, but there wasn't much of it.
My meal consisted of 2 1/2 ounces of soup, a 3-ounce piece of fish perched atop a pile of itsy-bitsy vegetables, and a cute little dessert.
It wasn't cheap, but it didn't throw me off my diet either.

happy trails,
$20 2x$10 1st course
$40 2x$20 entree
$20 2x$10 glass of wine
$10 1x$10 dessert
$10 towards tip and tax
$100
There's loads of places that are within that price range for those items only. When talking a celebration like an anniversary or fine dining, I believe many people start with a cocktail or two and then share a bottle of wine which would definitely blow this budget above.

What are the names of some of those great places, suze?
Last week for lunch at The Bell Street Diner (not a fine dining establishment) we had greasy calamari ($9), two pieces of "Copper River" salmon totally lacking in salmon flavor (2x$24), one tasteless rhubarb cobbler ($6), two cokes, two cups of coffee, and service that didn't amount to much. The bill was $78--over $90 with tip.
There are much cheaper items on the menu at Bell Street Diner, but if good fish plates are $18-$25 there, what kind of an entree can we get at a good place for $20? Pasta?

Since the OP has vanished, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell those of you who were such a big help to me that I've made arrangements with Cafe Maximilien for our party. I'm relieved to have it settled and am excited about the visit. The only negative I've read about Maximilien is that it's difficult to find. I'll probably need to include a map with the invitation.
