Looking for Restaurant and other Recommendations in Duck/Corolla

My family and I are renting a large house over Columbus Day Weekend (Oct. 9-12) in Corolla, for a wedding. Does anyone have any great restaurant recommendations in the area? All adults, no kids.

Also, any other fun recommendations, besides the obvious (Wright Bros, etc.). Anything we MUST rent, visit, etc?

Thanks, I've gotten great advice from Fodors in the past!

Sincerely,
Karen

The Blue Point in Duck is excellent. Also try Chowhound.com for some ideas. We were in Duck one Columbus Day weekend, and it was absolutely beautiful. I hope you have the same luck.

We liked the Sunset Grill, which is on the sound side in Duck. Good variety of food, great sunset view. Get there early to obtain a table by the windows.

We also enjoyed the ATV tour in the 4WD area above Corolla. We did have kids with us also, but I think the adults enjoyed the ATV's even more! It's a bit expensive, but the most memorable thing we did in the Outer Banks (around $100 per ATV for about an hour).

The Blue Point is excellent. Reservations are a must 30 days in advace during the summer, don't know about September. Read a review in Southern Living and they gave them high marks. Enjoy

Ocean Blvd is great - a short ride from Corrolla to Kitty Hawk.

Be sure NOT to eat at TURF's UP at the TimbukTwo center in Corrolla! We had the WORST fiasco of service there where our waiter ruined a family reunion dinner by (oops!) forgetting to place one person's order for dinner. We asked to speak to the owner and he was so rude and arrogant to us that we left speachless. This place touts high prices and "fine dining" but they have a long way to go before they fit the bill.

One really fun thing we did was hire a professinal photographer who met us at 8 AM on the beach for group photos. We all dressed in blues and tans. It was great fun and we are gretting some beautiful photos from it. They are digital and he shows them to you immediately back at the house and posts them to a website. There are many photographers in the area that do this....but you should reserve one. We were lucky to get one last minute. Email me if you want his web site.

Enjoy your stay! We love the Outer Banks!

Dorgal -- I'd love the info on the photographer you used if you don't mind posting his/her name and/or website here.
