The water is cool here in November, but I am originally from the East Coast, and the water there is colder!

As for any other suggestions, the zoo is great for kids and adults alike. Wild Animal Park is fun because it is different. You can take a monorail ride across the plains of Africa or Asia and see animals as they live in the wild. I think you can actually get a pass that will admit you to both the zoo and Wild Animal Park for one price - they sell it at either park.

Also, don't know if you're interested, but the Disney California Adventure Park is having a special for 2 days for $49 for adults and $39 for kids through December - the park is in Anaheim, next to Disneyland.

Eileen and Kevin, I believe the Disney special pass is for S. California residents only.

Hyatt at La Jolla has a great rate of about $82 under internet specials on hyatt.com.

Jane - You may want to make a reservation at a place and then that evening, call again. We stayed at the Best Western there and although our reservation was quoted for $119 a night (non-ocean-view), we called right before we walked in the door and was quoted a "manager's special" for only $89 a night. When we decided to stay another night (not reserved), they moved us across the hall into an ocean-view room at the same price ($100 savings!). We like the Best Western alot. Close to shops and restaurants and of course, the ocean-view room was great. The management and service were good too!
