Stayed there in the 70s when it was the Kuilima. It was fine then and imagine it has only gotten better with time. It is of course on the opposite side of the island from Honolulu as you are hopefully aware.
Don't know if the traffic has gotten better in the 30 plus years since we have been there. If I remember correctly, the Kuilima doesn't have much sandy beach but they may have changed that. Of course the pools and surroundings are very nice. Have you tried Tripadvisor or one of the other travel forums since you don't seem to have gotten too much response from here? Good luck....Hawaii is very nice...or it was 30 years ago!!!

Turtle bay is away from the primary resort area and is a bit of a drive from Waikiki... If thats what you want, its OK, but if you are looking for the Oahu hustle-bustle, you won't find it there...

It's been a long time since I stayed there. They used to be highly regarded for the Hawaiian buffet..was that on Aloha Fridays?

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was set there, wasn't it? We LOVED this place and spent a day there, but didn't stay overnight. It's incredible, and the setting cannot be beat.

Enjoy,

Do a text search, lots of comments about the property. The drive is an hour or so to HNL w/o traffic and there isn't much around for alternative dining that tastes good.

The North Shore is awesome for watching surfers and seeing big sea turtles. Views are really pretty. It's not a luxury hotel, more 3-4* quality in the main building and the bungalows are very nice.
