Looking for a condo in Myrtle Beach!

We are looking for a condo in Myrtle Beach (6 nights in June/July - many have a 7 night minimum). We're traveling with two teenage sons (16 & 18). We prefer ocean view. There are so many to choose from and I'm not familiar with the area. Any suggestions?

I've used www.vrbo.com for the last five years and haven't been disappointed yet.

Depending on what your family wants to do (beach, amusement parks, shopping, etc.) you may want to look in North Myrtle or Garden City. We find these areas less crowded (no promises on June/July though).

Shout if you have questions - lots of people on these forums know about Myrtle Beach.

I appreciate the suggestion for VRBO...so much to choose from with plenty of positive testimonials! Any suggestions on how to narrow my search on this site? I think we'd like to be in more activity, from what I've read, we would want Myrtle Beach as opposed to North Myrtle Beach.

If you find a unit you really like, sometimes its worth it to go ahead and book the week rental.

If you narrow down to two or three properties, I can check out the exterior and beach. I'll be there a few times in the next few weeks.

I guess my main question would be - do you want it to be more isolated for your two teenage sons, or closer to the "action" so they can go off on their way in the evenings.

My family went even further north to REALLY quiet beaches with 4 teenagers

We'd like to be closer to the action so I don't have to entertain my sons. When I go on to VRBO, Grand Strand comes up immediately. Is that an area in north or south mb? It would be great to have someone check out the exterior...I'll keep you informed...thanks!

vactionfool,

Grand Strand refers to about 40 or 50 miles of coast that includes NMB, MB, Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach, Murrells Inlet, Litchfield, and though they try to resist it, Pawleys Island So you'll have to look at the addresses or a sub-category on vrbo. If you want to be in the middle of the action, look for a Myrtle Beach address on Ocean Blvd bewteen about 8200 North and about 2900 South; I'd especially recommend between about 2400 North and about 1000 North.

If a place you're considering is in MB, let me know and I'll do a fly-by on my way home (you can email me).

Hi Mike,

I'm very interested in VRBO. Is there a way to search dates, rather than look at the calendar on every condo? I'm now looking for Easter vacation (April 15 through 22). Any ideas on how to narrow a search?

Thanks so much,
Adrienne

VRBO doesn't have a way to search by date that I'm aware of. I would also like to see a place to add comments by the renter. Maybe some day they'll add these features...

One of the great things about condos at MB is also a weakness: so many condos to chose from. I make a list of things that are important to me - washer/dryer, beach-front, etc. - and spend a few evenings narrowing down the selection. I then send emails to the owners (offending a few because I ask for a discount ;-) and usually end up with 5 or 6 to pick from.

If you are still looking for a place, we have a condo for rent in Garden city, this is just 7 miles south of MB. Very close to pier, restaurants and such. Very nice condo, sleeps 6. Send me an email if you are interested.

Here's a good website for the NMB area
northmyrtlebeach.com

The Crescent Shores are very nice and also Southshore is new and nice also.

Good luck...there are gazillions of condos. We were just there this weekend and I remarked to my DH as to how did people ever decide where to stay!
