I am sorry if this question has been asked repeatly, my first time on this board. Anyway, we will be in Chicago for the marathon in Oct. Can anyone reccommend a good "blues club". Also, do you need reservations?

House of Blues, Andy's, Green Dolphin are all good. You might need reservations depending on the musician playing the evening you want to go. All are north of the river and accessible via taxi.

One of our favorites is Kingston Mines.
You'll need a taxi to get here as opposed to walking to the more centrally located House of Blues or Buddy Guy's Legends, but Kingston has 3 stages which feature different bands all night. Top notch down & dirty REAL blues.

You won't be sorry. Enjoy Chicago....

Blues Chicago on Clark Street is walking distance from North Michigan Avenue; Buddy Guy's and Kingston Mines are also good.

Andy's and Green Dolphin tend to book more jazz groups, not that there is anything wrong with that.

You don't make reservations, just show up. Things tend to get going late (for a runner!)

Buddy Guy's is the classic and was just featured on the Food Network for it's Jambalaya.

Was at Buddy Guy's in late July. Not exactly what I expected, but an interesting place with lots of memorabilia. No reservation needed, but get there early if you want a table.

Yipper - I was in Chicago last year and LOVED the Underground Wonder Bar. Maybe locals can tell you a little more about it but I think it's mainly a blues/jazz club, very small, open very late, lots of fun.

Thank you for all the replies. We are going on Marathon weekend, that is why I was wondering about reservations. I think I will call a couple of places in a week or so.
