Long lines at better Las Vegas Buffets?

I've heard/read about the long lines at the better buffets in Las Vegas (Bellagio, Paris, Aladdin, etc.) I've also read that we should go at the end of lunch time to get the dinner selection with the lunch prices. I'd really rather have the shorter wait in line. Does anyone know when the lines are generally shorter?
Thanks

For the most part even if lines are long they move pretty quickly. If you are looking to do as you said about going for the late lunch, you need to check with each buffet, because now many do close in between sittings. For example they may be closed from 2-4:30. So just check their individual hours before you go. We don't typically visit the buffets, I don't mind them but DH is not a big fan, but I do highly recommend the seafood buffet at the Rio. It is excellent, a little pricey for a buffet, last time we went was about 2 years ago and it was $40. per person. They have 2 buffets there, the carnival world buffet and the seafood, both are good. Also, Green Valley Ranch has a nice buffet.

It used to be if you went to a buffet at around 6:00 PM, the lines would be pretty short. Nowadays, I'd say you have to be there well BEFORE 6:00 PM, especially at Bellagio and Wynn. But it also depends if you're there during the week or on the weekend.

I was dissapointed with the Bellagio buffet. The seafood was really overcooked and bland. I know I should have known better than to expect greatness, but I think we would have been better off somewhere else.

Thanks, I appreciate your information. We plan one buffet (during the week), so we'll get there well before 6pm and maybe the line will go quickly. I just can't stand long lines for anything.

I like the off strip buffets: Orleans, the Palms, Sunset and Palace Stations.
VegasNative- I'd like to try Green Valley Ranch the next time I'm in Las Vegas. I like watching the happenings there on the show American Casino.

trippinkpj, GVR is really nice and it is in a beautiful area of town. Next time if you do decide to visit make sure you visit The District lcoated at GVR, nice boutique shops and its all outside. During the summer months there is live musicians playing and its fun to get an ice-cream and just stroll around listening to the music. They also have great restaurants there as well, highly recommend the Elephant Bar or Kings Fish House.

We also enjoyed the seafood buffet at the Rio. When we arrived, we immediately went to the buffet hostess and obtained a "call number". They have a neon sign above the buffet that you can check to see when your number comes up. It took about an hour, but we had fun having drinks & watching the bartenders toss bottles at the bar, watched the "Party In The Sky" attraction in the same area, browsed the shops, etc. The time went quickly!!
