Long Beach Airport
We're flying into Long Beach Airport to begin our California vacation. I am interested in some advice about which route from the airport to Disneyland would be best. MapQuest generated a strange and cumbersome-looking route. I hope some Southern California natives or other seasoned travelers have some better options. Oh btw, the airline changed our arrival time to 6pm on a Friday! Thanks, Lisa B.

Two alternatives:
Lakewood Blvd, to San Diego Fwy (405) south bound. Take the Garden Grove (22) when it splits off in Seal Beach.
Then either exit Harbor Blvd, continue north til you reach the resort area. At other times of day, I might suggest taking the Garden Grove all the way around to the 57/5, but not on a Friday Night.
Or, take Lakewood Blvd north to the Artesia (91) east, then take the Santa Ana (5), exit Disneyland or Harbor, depending on where you are going.

Either of mlgb's routes is good. By the time you get on the road, it will be close to 7 PM, and traffic will be thinning out a bit on the Garden Grove (CA-22), so taking it all the way to the I-5 interchange might be fine (you'd head north on I-5 and look for the appropriate Disneyland exit). However, taking Harbor north all the way to the resort area is easier on the blood pressure, I find.

I would definitely recommend getting to the 91 (Artesia) Fwy East and then taking the 5 (Santa Ana) Fwy South. If you are two or more, just get in the carpool lane and it will literally drop you off at the Disneyland resort.
Have a great time!
