Lodging: Monterey, Carmel, Cambria

Can anyone recommend two hotels that price under $175/night - one in Monterey or Carmel or somewhere on the outskirts of those towns, and another in Cambria? Lodging seems pretty expensive in this neck of the woods.

Many thanks.

The trip would be friday night and saturday night. I would hope for an ocean side location, but whatever we can get at this point will be fine. Traveling at the end of June

Check out Pacific Grove for more reasonable accomodations in the Monerey and Carmel area.

We just got back today and we stayed at the wonderful Hotel Pacific in Monterey. The accomodations were first rate. Feather beds, saltillo tile and wood floors, living and dining area, fireplace, robes, dual showers, afternoon tea and cheese, fabulouse continental breakfast, all for $159/weekend, $117 weekday. The rate only applied if booked on the internet. You could also catch the free bus just outside the hotel. We loved this place and will go back again.
