lodging for bryce canyon??

I will be in Bryce at the beginning of June and the park lodge is full. Where else would you recommend staying? I've heard Ruby's is noisy. Are there any good alternatives? (Not too worried about cost...)

It's a pity the lodge is full. We stayed at B.W. Ruby's Inn (lodge full also) and found it was quite OK. The accommodation is in a block a little away from the restaurant, and it wasn't any more noisy than other similar standard motels. I seem to remember there was a second block at the back which would have been quieter - maybe someone can confirm this.

I agree that it is too bad you can't stay at the lodge or cabins -- much better. Keep trying and hope for a cancellation. Otherwise go ahead and book Ruby's. We've also stayed there. It's not a great place, but rooms are fairly large and certainly clean and decent. It is the next best alternative that doesn't require a lot of driving.

I agree with the postings on Ruby's. The lodge was closed for the winter when we were there over Thanksgiving, but Ruby's was just fine. I read the same posts you did prior to our trip and had the same concerns. See if you can get a room at the back side overlooking the pond/lake. At least you'll have a nice view and no noise coming from that direction. Other than the occasional cars pulling in with people coming back from late dinner or late check in, there was no noise to speak of and they were close to being sold out. It was clean and comfortable with decent furnishings.

Just don't expect much from their restaurant either in the line of food or service with a smile. Unfortunately they have a captive audience. It's absolutely laughable for anyone in the business to see how others might treat their customers and actually get away with it! On the other hand, the front desk staff at Ruby's was phenomenal...180 degrees out from the restaurant staff, and a delight to deal with!
