Lodging Choices in Santa Fe

I know there are many threads about this, but we are trying to choose between staying at the Inn at the Alameda and the Four Kachinas Inn. I think that the Four Kachinas Inn has been recently sold and renovated. Any opinions?

I was in Santa Fe last week, but didn't stay at, or even see either of the two places you're considering. Based solely on location and their websites, though, I would opt for Inn on the Alameda. The architecture of Four Kachinas is not the southwest adobe style you'll immediately be drawn to, and it's a bit more of a hike from there to the plaza area than from Inn on the Alameda. Besides that, Inn on the Alameda is just around the corner from Canyon Road, one of Santa Fe's more interesting gallery shopping streets.

The Annasazi is twice as expensive.... We are already splurging on Geronimo's for dinner and a stint at Ten Thousand Waves, not to mention all the shopping ahead.

I have to chime in here with a complaint. You asked which of the two hotels was better. You receieved two rather detailed suggestions. But THEN you complain that the one is too expensive. aren't you just wasteing peoples time here. You should have not considered the more expensive choice if you didn't want to spend the money to stay there. jeez!

You did not read the post from Ike correctly; they recommended a third, and very different, very nice, but more expensive hotel than either of the two we were considering. If you are going to take the time to complain, at least get your facts proper.

Just my two cents worth.

If you can stay close to the Plaza you'll be very pleased. We had a wonderful time in Santa Fe with the great food, good hotels, and all the jewelry shopping!!

And NO we didn't stay at the Inn of the Annasazi. But it was on the same block. We did not need a car while there - just walked everywhere.

We had art work shipped home and enjoy seeing it each morning when we get up.

Artman - this is the original question from waxheimer!!!

<<I know there are many threads about this, but we are trying to choose between staying at the Inn at the Alameda and the Four Kachinas Inn.>>

Jeez! I don't see a question about the Inn of the Anasazi. Do you?
