Let the Games begin!

Having just watched the magnificent opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on TV, let us all hope that the spirit of the games may catch on to the whole world and will persevere not only throughout the games but on - thus all people may stand united peacefully in respect for each other and their cultures!

A first BIG Thank you to the Greek hosts for creating such a great atmosphere!

big FAT thank you

I'll see the openings 5,5 hours later. Tried to search for pictures, very few posted.

For now I can only read gossip on the Internet, and there is already an athlete hurt in training - a Polish gymnast.

Did anybody see Iraq squash Portugal in the soccer preliminaries? Wonderful coverage on the background of the team. I am rooting for them all the way! I think they need the victory more than anyone.

Looking forward to the TV coverage starting at 8:00 EST. I hope the American athletes aren't booed as it's been reported they will be.
