My wife an I are leaving for Alaska on April 5th and departing for home on the 11th. We will be staying at the Alyeska Resort for five nights and in Anchorage for the last night. We are hoping for a relaxing trip so we didn't want to drive much. Thats why we chose to stay in one place. We are going to ski at least two days, snowmobiling one day and the rest is open and flexible. We are considering a daytrip from Girdwood. (Seward or Homer?) We are going to do dinner at the Double Musky at least once. We also have reservations at the Seven Glaciers one night. Any comments or suggestions?

You want to see as much of Alaska as you possibly can. I would definatly throw a trip on in Seward and in Homer. From Seward, you can take wonderful boat trips that I would not miss. Also, Exit Glacier is a wonderful stop.

Drive carefully and just because it's Alaska do not assume the other guy knows what he's doing.

Check to see what's open in Seward and Homer. According to relatives, none of the restaurants on Homer's Spit were open last weekend (March). April is still early so I would check hours Sealife Center in Seward, Pratt Museum in Homer, etc are open this time of year. Check an events schedule. You may want to spend the weekend in Anchorage.

Decide after you get there. Check the weather report first and then make your decission. For a day trip Homer is a kind of very long trip from Girdwood and, as dfrostnh wrote, not much is open there this time of a year.
