Least expensive way to get from New Orleans airport to French Quarter

I would like to know the least expensive way to get from New Orleans airport (MSY) to the Wyndham Chateau Bourbon at 800 Iberville St. Taxi, bus, shuttle service, car service? I will have one rolling bag and one carry-on.

Thanks!

I was going solo, and it was almost dark--I took "super shuttle" and i had same baggage as you..
My daughter on previous trip when by bus, however she had only a backpack...

Thanks for the reply. However, I just did a search for Super Shuttle and it doesn't show that they operate in New Orleans. Has it been awhile since you used them? Is it possibly a different shuttle service?

Thanks!

I live in the French Quarter. If you are traveling M-F, the "Airport" bus can get you from MSY to within blocks of your hotel. You can check the Airport bus schedule here: http://www.jeffersontransit.org/sche...irport-Map.htm If you are traveling on Sat. or Sun., you would need to take two buses to get downtown. The Airport bus will get you to the corner of Tulane & S. Carrollton Aves., then you will need the "Tulane" bus to get you downtown, schedule here: http://www.norta.com/rta_system/syst...dex.html?ID=39 If you are traveling late at night, I would recommend using the hotel shuttle: http://www.airportshuttleneworleans.com/ Also, check to see if your hotel offers it's own shuttle service. Have a good visit!

There's a shuttle service kiosk at the airport as you pick up your baggage near the carousel. One way was about $17 last year when i used it to the FQ.

Take a cab and get there quicker. You will be enjoying a cold drink at your hotel before a bus will get you there. Good luck.

Thank you for your replies.

Edithgrove: Will the bus be too crowded or awkward to travel on with a rolling bag and carry-on tote? I know that may be difficult to answer but if it is a bus that you believe will be super crowded, it may be too much to try to maneuver with bags.

I love the idea of enjoying a cold drink at the hotel in record time but, unfortunately, on this trip, price rules. Any idea how much a cab will cost from the airport to the hotel?

Thanks again!

I ride those buses often, and I've never seen them "super" crowded. They are rarely moderately crowded. I can't see you having a problem unless you're riding during prime-time on Mardi Gras Day or New Year's Eve.

The cab ride from the airport to downtown was $35 earlier this year.

Also, about the bus, the beginning of the line is the airport, and the end of the line is your destination. You shouldn't have a problem getting on & off despite your luggage situation.
