Latitudes Restaurant in Key West

Anyone familiar with this restaurant? I know that it is located on Sunset Key and that you have to take a ferry there from the Hilton. Is it worth the trip? What kind of food? Expensive? Dress?

It's an 8 minute ferry ride and the restaurant gets varying reviews. The setting is very nice and the time we ate there the food was great. However, I've heard of lots of other folks (including locals) who haven't been as lucky with good meals there.

In Key West, dress is always casual, no matter how much you spend. It's been a couple of years since we were at Latitudes, but as I recall the prices were at the upper end of the price scale.

We went for lunch a couple years ago. Way too much hassle for the quality of the meal. It wasn't bad, but the staff somehow managed to convey the feeling that we should feel like they were doing us a favor by allowing us to eat there. Much better food for less money elsewhere. Jean

If you are looking for a restaurant with super food, reasonable prices and good serivce, do what the locals do. Take a ride up to Stock Island and enjoy the Rusty Anchor. It has the freshest seafood, no-fuss/quick presentation, and a price that doesn't break the bank. Ambiance is "local". No one will look down at your flip flops or aloha shirt. If you need to see and be seen, go down to somplace on Duval for posturing. For a really good food experience head for Stock Island. Blue collar? yes. Simple decor? yes. Mostly locals? Yup. You'll have a genuine Key West meal. Get a 1/4 pound of Key West Pinks cooked hot or cold for $7. A a very well done stuffed florida lobster for $16.95 AND the stuffing isn't 'sea leg's it's real crab and shimp. Also resonably priced blue crab claws for appetizer. Best key lime pie on the island for dessert. Hot, thick Coffee. My favorite eating place. Closed SUndays. Have fun!

If I'm going to take a ferry ride to eat, I'd much rather eat on Little Palm Island. Sunday brunch is fabulous but $$$$.
