Last min. deals?? To Ca
I was offered a jon in Ca, and will be traveling out there next weekend (hope to fly out of philly early friday morning and then com back either late sunday night or sometime monday or tuesday. This is the plan fly into scaramento, stay with family for the night, then drive to La, spend a night or two, then drive back up to Sac and fly home. Or i guess we could Fly into sac drive to La and fly out of La?? but then what would we do with the rental car? We are looking to go as cheeply as possiable, when should i buy the tickets, and what is the best site, also what is a safe hotel to stay at while in La? We will check out some of the touresty things, so would a hotel near a metro stop be ok? we dont need anything fancy but would like somthing in a decent neighborhood

Even if you do not use all the hotel, a air/hotel/car package is often cheaper than the air alone.

illusion321....If your company has a corporate discount proragm with Hertz, you may be able to rent from them.Check with your travel coordinator.Enterprise allows 'underage" renters with an additional fee of $15 per day.And you do have a credit card in your name and your license is current, right?

Some of your planning will depend where in LA you need to be for your job, and next, take in consideration the metro stop for hotel and touristy things. You can check out Southwest Airlines, from Sac to LAX or Burbank. Also, would it be possible to ask/use a car from the family in Sac for the weekend.

Where is your work going to be? "LA" is HUGE......putting it mildly....do you want an apt or condo or rent a room in a house? I have had several roomies who have just moved to the area(I'm in LA) and stayed just long enough to get acclimated...roommates.com

Definitely don't backtrack to Sacramento. Nationalcar will rent to under 25/ but you will have to pay extra.
I don't see how you can do this economically, typically you will need at least 7 days advance for a decent airfare. Perhaps if you book today and depart next Saturday you can get it around $350 pp.
Hotels in LA are no problem that weekend, let us know if you've booked your air, then we can help you with the hotel.

I wouldn't recommend staying at LAX...however, if you have an early morning weekday flight home from there...it might be a good choice. Again, it all depends on your flight arrangements.
While LAX hotels are fairly convenient to the beaches, they're not at all convenient to Hollywood/restaurants/Universal etc. They are usually discounted heavily on weekends, but high on Mon & Tues.
Bottom line...Flying into Sacramento on a Friday and flying out of LAX on that Sunday...you won't have much time for doing much in LA, so you want to stay near what you want to see and not spend 2 of your few hours on freeways.
